Restylane® Treatment Information
Restylane® is one of the latest skin care treatment options for patients who desire a more youthful look without surgery. An effective dermal filler, Restylane® is derived from hyaluronic acid (HA),the same substance found in our skin and joints.
Restylane® is the standard filler for mid to deep correction of nasolabial folds, marionette lines and lips. It lasts six months or longer and softens depressions around the corner of the mouth, laugh lines and lines that descend from the corner of the lips to the chin.
Restylane Sik® is a lower molecular weight HA that is ideal for fine lines around the upper and lower lips, crows’ feet and as a filler for the lps.
Restylane Lyft® is a higher molecular weight HA that is designed for deep correction for the cheeks or nasolabial folds. Since aging of the face is accompanied by loss of volume and sagging of the cheeks and the tissues below the eyes, Lyft elevates and replaces this lost volume, restoring the youthful appearance.
New additions to our ability to obtain a natural look with fillers are Restylane Defyne® and Restylane Refyne® with one-year duration.
These remarkable fillers have been engineered for maximum flexibility to allow natural facial expression while filling depressions and wrinkles. They last up to one year.
Restylane Defyne® is used for the same areas as Restylane®, the nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Restylane Refyne® is used for finer lines and depressions around the mouth and lower cheeks and face.

Restylane® Benefits
With a little local anesthetic and less than an hour of your time, you can fill in the lines and furrows that make you look aged. Restylane® treatments at our San Jose area center are customized to meet the unique needs of the patient and can be used to treat the downturned angle of the mouth, the nasolabial folds, and fine upper and lower lip wrinkles. The result is immediate and gratifying. When combined with BOTOX® Cosmetic to stop the muscle action causing the wrinkles, even better skin care results are obtained.
Restylane® lasts six months or longer and feels remarkably smooth and natural to the touch. Unlike collagen, it requires no skin test because it has no animal protein in it. Additionally, it typically lasts longer than collagen and requires less frequent supplementation. Best skin care results are obtained by further injections before all the material is gone.
Restylane® Risks
The side effects most likely to occur, if any, are some temporary swelling or redness at the injection site. These can easily be covered with make-up. Most people have no down time after their Restylane® skin care treatment and are able to resume normal activities immediately.
