This 64 year old woman had a slowly growing lipoma about 6 x 6 cm. She had avoided treatment because she did not want a long, disfiguring scar or general anesthesia.
The lipoma was removed through a 2 cm incision in the office with local anesthetic only. The lipoma was softened and debulked using power-assisted liposuction after which it was removed under direct vision by surgical dissection and extraction. Complete removal was confirmed by inspecting the cavity with fiberoptic headlight and magnification. Lipomas up to 12 x 12 cm have been removed through the same small incision.
