Botox Mountain View

Want to achieve a relaxed and youthful appearance? Botox treatments are a popular and effective option. At his Mountain View center, Dr. Lowen can determine if Botox, is appropriate for you and will create an individualized treatment plan to fit your needs.

BOTOX® Treatment

BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to smooth out frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet. It is administered by injection directly into the muscles under the wrinkles with a fine needle. Discomfort during BOTOX® treatment is usually mild, and and we can use ice or a topical anesthetic to minimize pain. The effects of BOTOX® on patients begin in six to 36 hours and usually reach maximum effect in seven to 14 days. The injected muscles remain inactive for three or four months. Repeated injections over time may lead to longer and better results, as the muscle becomes smaller from lack of use.

BOTOX® Benefits

BOTOX® Cosmetic can be done quickly in the office. You need not lose time from work or social activities. Rarely, slight bruising can occur at the injection site. The main benefit of BOTOX® Cosmetic is that without surgery, you can get a very rapid reduction in the wrinkles caused by smiling, frowning, and rising your eyebrows.

A little BOTOX® under the tail of the brow can take some of the hooding or heaviness away from your lateral brow. Dr. Lowen performs minimal-incision endoscopic forehead surgery to make these effects long lasting. But the idea of surgery can take a little getting use to, and is more expensive than BOTOX® treatment.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a way of temporarily getting some of the benefits of surgical procedures like facelift and blepharoplasty. However, as you get older, the forehead gets droopier, and BOTOX® Cosmetic alone will not be enough to maintain a youthful appearance. Until that time, BOTOX® Cosmetic will help you look more rested and relaxed.

BOTOX® Cosmetic Risks

Droopiness of the brow is a potential problem associated with BOTOX®. Dr. Lowen says leaving some forehead muscle functioning for a centimeter or so above the brows helps avoid this. Temporary droopiness of the eyelid can also occur. This results from BOTOX® Cosmetic diffusing down below the orbital rim and affecting the muscle that elevates the eyelid. However, this effect usually fades in about a week. It is treated with eye drops which stimulate the muscle within the lid, keeping the eyelid elevated until the BOTOX® Cosmetic wears off.

Everyone’s response to BOTOX® is a little different. Good results depend on getting the BOTOX® right into the muscle. When the muscles are bulky, more BOTOX® is needed. After a treatment or two, Dr. Lowen will know the optimal dose for you. If results are not as long lasting or complete as you would like, then improvement may be obtained by increasing the dose or doing another smaller injection about two to three weeks after the first. Although most people do fine with the standard dose, a very small number of people are resistant to the effects and difficult to treat with consistently good results.

Dr. Lowen is an excellent Doctor and I have seen a few times for his opinion, which I always trust. I also work with Alice Tung, she has been doing my botox and Radience for years. She is awesome too. Thank you. Lori Maes
