Facial Fat Transfer Mountain View
A facial fat transfer, also called facial fat grafting, offers patients a way to rejuvenate their faces without the need for any scalpels or artificial fillers. It involves removing excess fat from one region of the body and transferring it to the face to fill age lines and depressions. Dr. Robert Lowen is available to perform the facial fat transfer for Mountain View patients.
Dr. Lowen is a board-certified plastic surgeon and has been in the medical field for over five decades. He has been recognized as a top plastic surgeon by San Jose Magazine since 1999 and was chosen by NBC and Doctors Improving Healthcare as one of the Top Doctors of 2010. The Benefits of a Facial Fat Transfer
Facial fat grafting can restore a more youthful appearance by addressing many age signs. This treatment can be used in the peri-orbital area (around the eyes) to treat hollowing of the upper eyelids, depressions under the eyes, and crow’s feet. It can also be used at the temples, in the cheeks, and in other regions to fill in age lines and acne scars.
One of the main benefits of a facial fat transfer is that it enhances multiple areas of the body simultaneously. Liposuction is used to remove excess fat from trouble areas, reducing them in volume, and this fat is then used to provide natural facial rejuvenation.
Hand Rejuvenation with Fat Grafting
Patients with aged-looking hands may be interested in hand rejuvenation with fat grafting. This procedure is ideal for filling in depressions and wrinkles in the backs of the hands. The precision and care involved in this hand treatment gives patients natural and long-lasting results.
Ideal candidates for a facial fat transfer are those who are interested in a less-invasive option for resolving facial wrinkles, depressions, and acne scars. Good candidates also have excess fat in regions like the abdomen, thighs, or flanks that they would like to get rid of.
The Facial Fat Transfer Process
Facial fat grafting is a three-step process:
Step 1 – A local anesthetic is injected to numb the chosen donor regions, typically the flanks or the abdomen. Liposuction is employed to remove excess fatty tissue from these regions. This involves insertion of a cannula and use of vacuum pressure to remove the cells through the cannula. Liposuction must be performed gently in order to preserve the health of the fat cells.
Step 2 – Puregraft is used to purify the harvested fatty tissue. The Puregraft system is a trusted technology in modern fat purification and consistently filters out 97% of unnecessary materials, leaving behind only the healthiest fat cells for grafting. This results in longer-lasting higher-quality results.
Step 3 – The treatment areas are numbed with a local anesthetic. The purified donor fat is injected into these areas using fine blunt cannulas, creating even and natural-looking results. This process involves precision and can take some time.
Facial Fat Grafting Recovery
Once the facial fat transfer procedure is complete, patients can return home to heal. Patients must not put pressure on the face during healing, since this can lead to migration of the fat cells or other complications.
After about three days, patients can return to their normal everyday chores around the home. They can usually return to work in around a week or sometimes sooner.
The recovery process involves very little bruising and a degree of swelling; these will be temporary and will fade shortly. Initial results will be noticeable immediately, and full results will be apparent after swelling and bruising have faded.
