Neck lift Procedure

Conveniently located to serve Mountain View, Palo Alto, and San Jose

A neck lift in Mountain View is a cosmetic surgical procedure that can improve signs of aging in the neck and the jawline.

Neck lift surgery can treat conditions like:

  • Jowls caused by excess fat or loose skin in the lower part of the face
  • Loose sagging neck skin
  • Abnormal neck contours as a result of sagging muscles
  • A double chin (excess fat under the chin)
  • A turkey-wattle neck

Necklift surgery is typically performed in conjunction with other plastic surgery procedures, such as facelift surgery or eyelid surgery, to achieve youthful, natural-looking facial rejuvenation results.

Who Can Undergo This Procedure?

A neck lift procedure is ideal for those who feel that the appearance of their neck area is unsatisfactory due to an aging or out-of-shape look. People with a double chin and jowls will find this procedure beneficial.

Individuals who are in good health and have no serious medical issues can undergo a neck lift surgery. The procedure is not recommended for smokers, since smoking can lead to complications during healing. Smokers need to give up smoking at least two weeks before the procedure

During your personal consultation with Dr. Robert Lowen, he can explain the options available and determine an appropriate treatment plan to fit your specific needs. Patients are usually asked to stop taking medicines that cause blood-thinning.

Necklift with Limited Excision

The neck lift is done under local anesthesia with IV sedation. Depending on the patient’s health and preferences, general anesthesia may be used instead.

For this less-invasive technique, a small incision is made under the chin. Neck muscles are tightened and modified to improve the angle of the neck and remove excess fat and fullness, creating a more youthful and attractive look.

Once the procedure is done, sutures are used to close the incision. Additionally, because the incisions are placed in the contours of the jawline, scarring is typically only minimally visible after healing takes place.

Post-Surgical Recovery

The advice of Dr. Lowen needs to be followed after surgery so that the healing process is not prolonged and does not involve any complications. Bruising and swelling may be present. Pain medications and antibiotics may be needed.

Follow-up visits will be required to ensure a satisfactory healing process. It may take a couple of weeks for healing to be complete. After this time, the full results of the procedure will be apparent.
